Bulldogs welcome new coaches

Two former distinguished DeLand Bulldog football players returned to their former school but this time as coaches. Did I mention they were brothers?

Kirk and Terry Robinson are the newest members of the DeLand Bulldog coaching staff. Terry, a 1984 graduate of DeLand, starred at QB for the Bulldogs where he earned a scholarship from Florida State. Terry made a name for himself at FSU where he became proficient at blocking punts.

Kirk played one year at DeLand before transferring to The Bolles School in Jacksonville where he helped those Bulldogs win a state championship in 1986 as he rushed 16 times for 190 yard and 4 tds. Kirk earned a scholarship to the University of Florida.

The football field wasn’t the only sport that Kirk Robinson excelled in. Kirk won weightlifting state titles in 1986 at 181 ¾ lbs (405-260-665), 1987 at 198 ¼ lbs (440-290-665), and 1988 at 220 ¾ lbs (485-290-775).

Coach Terry Robinson will be coaching the quarterbacks for the Bulldogs while Kirk takes over as the runningbacks coach
